Future daughter-in-law rejected my heirloom jewelry to wear on her wedding day. Should I tell my son?
Last night, I told FDIL that I would be honored if she would consider wearing some heirloom jewelry from my family on her wedding day-I offered her my mother’s choker and earrings and my grandmother’s charm bracelet. FDIL flatly said no, that she would be wearing HER family’s jewelry on HER big day (and she said it just like that). She will wear her mother’s earrings and her great grandmother’s bracelet and her grandma’s ring. FDIL didn’t even look at pictures I had taken of the jewelry-she just rejected the pieces and seemed annoyed that I would even have the nerve to ask her. I understand that it is her decision, but I feel that she has no idea how special it would be to me and others in our family to see her wear the jewelry and feel that our family is represented, especially as FDIL has not even tried to include me or our family in her plans for the wedding. Should I tell my son how hurt I am and how bad I felt her attitude was?
I need help with my mom and mother in law.I’m good at crafty things like painting, building little things, and crocheting. But I won’t mind buying things to make something. My mom likes home interior things, is there something I can make her that will look nice in her home I have a budget of for her. My mother in law likes jewelry of course but I’m not sure what she likes n my husband doesn’t know either so that’s no help. She will like anything tho, I’m thinking for her a budget of . I don’t want to hear flowers, or chocolates.
No perfumes either.
What should I get my boyfriends parents to thank them for letting me spend the summer there?
Ive been with my boyfriend for 1 & 1/2 years. I will be staying at his parents’ house for 3+ months and need to find a gift to give them as a thank you, for letting me stay there. Last time I spend a few days there and I bought his mother a bracelet but this time i’m spending more then 3 months! Any ideas?
This mother’s day I would like to get my mom and I matching silver cuff bracelets that are engraved with a special phrase. I need help thinking of something that would describe a mother/daughter relationship, while being short and sweet. It also needs to be something that we can both wear, so the phrase can’t make her sound like a daughter or me a mother.

Okay, I’m 13 years old and I’m going to a babysitting interview this week. The interview is regarding a babysitting job with a six year old girl and an eight year old boy who is almost nine. I want to make a good impression, but I don’t want to appear like I’m trying too hard, either. I’m also worried because I have dyed pink hair (it’s semi-permanent. It was just something fun to do. I’m bleaching it white blond—my hair is a platinum-ish color naturally anyway—soon, but I don’t think I’ll have time before the interview to do so), and I’m afraid it will scare their mother off. I don’t want her to think I’m some sort of "bad kid" because of my hair. Also, what about makeup? I want to look pretty, and I usually wear slightly cat-eye black liquid liner (black liquid eyeliner can look heavy, so I usually wear it fairly thin), a little bit of silver liner around my inner corner to bring in light, and some fake eyelashes (because mine are so, so tiny!!) that can pass for real. I fill in my eyebrows lightly, not enough to look fake, because I have thin brows and my brow color is so pale that they look invisble unless filled in. I usually wear a tiny bit of liquid foundation; otherwise, I wear sunscreen and some translucent powder to correct uneveness. Oh, and I also wear a little pink lip gloss, just a thin layer so I don’t look overdone.
How can I tone this down a little? Also, I’m VERY shy—horrible feat when it comes to interviews, I know—how can I appear easygoing and nice, yet responsible and reliable? I am really shy and making eye contact = fail when it comes to me. I always get worried when making eye contact. I try, but then I feel like I’m staring even if I’m not, so I look away shyly. How can I stop doing this? How can I seem confident when really I’m totally terrified?
I probably sound like I’m overdramatizing, but this is a big deal and will be my first-ever job, not to mention that there is quite a bit of money involved.
How can I make myself not look like what people where I live call a "punk" or a "rocker"? The pink hair is kind of inevitable. I’m going to try to get my parents to let me bleach it a few days before my interview, but I don’t know if I can. So if my hair’s still pink, how can I wear it so that I don’t look like a "rocker"?
And jewelry? I always wear a few diamond studs in my ears (I have three holes per ear) and a white gold ruby ring on the finger closest to my pinkie finger on my right hand. Should I wear any necklaces or bracelets? I have a nose piercing, but that’s okay because I have very tiny studs that are unnoticeable unless they reflect the light.
And shoes? I don’t want to wear heels or anything, so should I just wear sneakers? I have a pair of purple and black metallic Osiris skate shoes, Converse high tops, and things like that. I also have Ugg boots, etc.
Any ideas will help!! I appreciate any and all help with this. Thanks so much!! ![]()
